Played in a Texas Scramble pairs match yesterday and because of the nature of the games was taking on shots I wouldn't normally consider. Now though I was probably swinging more freely because of the lack of pressure I was hitting it pretty straight, true and long. Only lost one ball and that was due to a rather horrible bounce.

Next stop a 2 iron hybrid.

Right, you've lost me here tiger! I know I'm not the brightest but what the he'll does this post have to do with a ball or are you saying you had a ball yesterday????

Anyway glad you enjoyed your day and your golf plus confidence is improving.

I've just received the 3 dozen DX3's that I ordered from 118 golf earlier this week.
Going out tomorrow and will give them a try.
Not a great lover of the AD333's, find them a bit "clunky" around the greens. Good off the driver though.

I did wonder myself and thought "Well yes, a ball does make quite a difference when playing golf!!!"

I played an AD333 yesterday and had a good round. Can't see the ball making that much difference to my standard of golf tbh. Used up all my Titleists now. (All freebies) Lost just one AD333 yesterday as per my previous post.

Trouble is, I feel gutted when I lose one now as I actually paid for the bloody thing!!!

Note to self. Start tapping up reps for golf balls at work!

Sorry for my complete lack of sense. I was playing with ProV1x lake balls great around the greens but losing shots all over the place before I got there. Just switched to the srixons and though they are nowhere near as nice around the green at least I'm getting there in 2/3 rather than 4/5.

All in all I'm getting there, slowly, but getting there.

333's for me too, cheapest option for a decent ball as I lose a few :o What are you using Tiger and how's the h/c going.

I was struggling a lot recently but making some steady progress at the moment. Important medal next weekend and hoping to break 100. Need a hybrid to give me a little more distance and control. Playing the AD333 as well. It's been along hard road but gradually everything is starting to come together.

Plenty of hard work over the winter and then a solid start to next season, well that's the aim anyway :D

Tiger im sure Smiffy will back me up here.....Get yourself s sleeve of Wilson DX2'S or 3's and see how you get on with them....There as long as any of the ROCKS on the market and have ProV1 feel off all th scoring clubs
If you have a tendency to hit the odd bendy one off the tee they'll straighten you out.....An there lovely around an on the greens.....I went back to them from AD333'S and Srixon soft feels and i think that there a better ball

I tried a Titleis DT Solo yesterday and was surprised. I though of it as a bit of a pebble compared to the NXT and NXT Tour but it was actually pretty receptive albeit on damp greens. Only around £20 per dozen and so may be another alternative. I still think I'll stick with the AD333 in the winter

The srixons seem to be biting pretty well on pitches and I'm just allowing for more run on chips around the green. It's not ideal but to be fair I'm a 28 handicapper. Feel around the greens will become more important when I'm a teen handicapper. Will bear the wilsons in mind though. Thanks guys.

My club pro told me that Pro V1x's were for those with a swing speed of >125mph. If yours isn;t higher than that then you'll lose loads of distance.

The Pro V1 is for those with swing speeds slower than 125mph.

Try the Nike PD range. Brilliant, especially the PD Soft. Does what it says in the tin. Soft and long. If everyone started using them I might start finding some instead of having to keep buying the things.

I asked the Titleist rep what the difference was and he said it was to do with the amount of spin the ball produces either of the tee or round the greens. No mention of speed at all.

The speed does come into it, as the x is a four layer ball. If you don't swing fast enough to compress it, you aren't getting the benefit of the inner core. This would be what made it zing.

You might play ok with it, but you aren't making it work as well as it could.

Xs also have less driver spin, so would suit a high swing speed player looking to reduce back spin with driver. This co-incidentally would also take off some of the slice spin too, which is obviously the bit you would want.

However if this is the reason for using them, there are better low spin balls out there which would suit your swing speed.
