My partner and I were playing in the Algarve Ladies 4BBB, it was the last knockout round before the regional finals. We were playing at Sickleholme, in the middle of the Peak District and so allowing plenty of time just in case of busy traffic we set of to drive via the Snake Pass.

After crawling through Glossop always a busy spot, we finally set off up the Snake Pass but after a mile we ran into a jam and after waiting for 10 minutes a Police van came slowly down the other way ,telling everyone to turn round as the road ahead was closed. We turned around and crawled back to Glossop and set off on another route. We finally arrived 10 mins before our tee time after being in the car for 2 hours.

Amazingly we started pretty well bar the par threes which we made messes of and were level after 7 holes, they then hit a purple patch and won the next three holes including 2 birdies, I had a shot on the next and parred it to pull one back, then hit my tee shot on a par 3 to 2 feet for a birdie, then parred the next to get back to all square. Then my partner took over with 2 pars, one where she had a shot to put us 1 up and after losing the 17th to go back to level she hit her teeshot on the 201 yds 18th to 3 feet and as our opponents both missed the green we won the match on the last!

It was quite a match, 7 of the holes were won with birdies, one of our opponents chipped in from 40 yards on one hole.

The course itself was a lovely, although very hilly, it is in a delightful setting on the slopes of the Hope Valley, and as well as the natural beauty we even caught glimpses of the Red Arrows performing at Chatsworth House.

Next stop is the Northern Final next month with a chance to win a trip to Portugal for the Grand Final and even the possibily of partnering Darren Clarke in the Pro Am before the Portuguese Masters.
