I love named holes on a course. Some beauts out there...

7th at Cruden Bay is called Whaupshank - classic
4th on TOC is Ginger Beer because Old Tom always had one at that tee box.
1st at Woodhall Spa is Roddy's folly as he should just give the game up....

Two spring to mind, South America at Carnoustie - something to do with a caddie saying he was emigrating there but ended up drunk in a bunker on that hole. The other one is Little Siberia on Teignmouth GC where it gets strangely cold when the mist comes in. Apart from those which resonate, I see little point in hole names.

I think ours have names but the only one I can remember is our par 3 11th - "Neil's Nemesis".

I've renamed it to "Hefty's Hell" in my own mind.

Edit: I've just checked the website and it's actually called "the Ditch" but whoever sponsored the new tee markers had the opportunity to put their own words on - hence the Neil's Nemesis
