Does anyone know if:

- there is a Welsh national newspaper written in the welsh language (and if so is it also published in English)

- any of the English language papers (broadsheet or red top) produce a welsh language version.

Thank you.

Hi Spoff,

I believe there are some provincial papers published in welsh - these tend to be for the more west and north of wales.

The main welsh papers - western mail, south wales echo are published by these people www.walesonline.co.uk. Their website may have links for what you're looking for.

I can't remember seeing a national paper in welsh - though I have never really looked either :D

Hope it helps.

John.

Thanks everyone.

Why?

The campaign I'm involved in has to produce a % of the information in Welsh language even though we're very rarely asked for it.

Was wondering if if thinks like newspapers were not printed in Welsh it could be an arguement not to print our stuff in Welsh and save some money.

I dont see why it should be printed in welsh as anyone who speaks welsh can also speak English.
Nail. Head. Hammer.

I beleive there were complaints by a Welsh speaker years ago so not printing is done in both as standard.

.... as anyone who speaks welsh can also speak English.

Err... Not so.

Admittedly they are getting few & far between but there are some who don't speak any English. I worked for Caernarfon council a bit back. On the gang there were two of us who spoke only English, three who spoke only Welsh, & the rest were bilingual. Conversation in the mess-room was always a bit interesting. And long winded...
