Got told yesterday at work that as of the 26th of September I'll no longer be working for the agency as I've been given a permanent contract with the company :)

Been there for nearly 2 years and missed out the last 2 times when they were giving out contracts so thought it was never going to happen.

So now I get more money and proper overtime pay and more holidays.

I can already hear a nice shiny new set of irons calling my name at the end of the year :)

Congrats i know it must be a weight off your shoulders.
Years and years ago i used to work for a factory that took agency on,then laid them off all the time, demoralising for some and a lot of tears from the ladies.

surely you were on the same holidays etc as the permanent staff even as a contractor........?

We only got the minimum 28 days and that included bank holidays and over christmas. Now I get about 28 days plus paid bank holidays on top of that.

We make chassis and subframes for the likes of Nissan, jaguar, landrover, ford etc and since I started nearly 2 years ago it's gone mental with the amount of work. They had record profits last year and are having to build a new plant to keep up with demand. So hopefully it's a good sign for the future.
