Weekend Frustration & Anger Thread

A nicely timed thread Gary

I'm so jacked off at the moment that i've made my mind up to leave the club and move to one up the road.

I came sooo close to doing it last year but gave it one more shot , however the problems havn't gone away and i've reached my breaking point.

I will be going up to the new club on Tuesday with a view to joining 1st June. They may even let me have a free couple of rounds in May with any luck ;)

My missus has said just give the game up for good and we'll get a dog. Very tempting I must say.

Fed up with the club I take it then, not your game?

Not a lot wrong with my game tbh , driving it long and straight and wedging it in close'ish. Longer irons are reasonable but when I get near those greens boy oh boy am I struggling. They bung the flags on the front edges and our greens all have raised entrances of varying heights that make getting anywhere near the flags ludicrously hard in this weather. I'm really not holing anything of note and also i'm starting to doubt myself and my green reading ability. This has knocked my short putting confidence and off my h/c its just impossible to score on these greens at the moment.

I am all off plane atm with no confidence.

I have been having issues since the beginning of last but managed to park them to shoot an 86 on wednesday.

The wheels came off on friday, still managed a few pars on the par 3s and a 298 yard drive but i am struggling to get the club on plane atm.

Cue lesson soon!

I'll join this gang if I may please.

Hit it great today, well hit it solidly is probably a bit closer to the truth then there was this little thing called putting that got in the way.

I missed a 3 footer at the 5th for par and I went into putter meltdown. My confidence just shattered like a mirror being hit with a sand iron there and then. Why I cant really explain. I proceded to three whack the 6th from 25 feet. Also missed from 8 foot at 9, missed from 4 foot at 11 and left it short from 3 foot at 13!!! Left it short.

Halfs of 42-36 led to another .1 up which now sees me up to 6.

On the plus side I now give one less shot in Mondays tie!

Well no frustration or anger for me really. That only happens if you are bothered about it. Just got back from being away at work for six weeks and looking forward to playing in the Roll-up Stableford today. Sat around for ages after the draw, interminable, at least dentist's waiting rooms have fish tanks. Anyway no interest in it at all by the time I eventually teed off, kind of forgot why I was there lol. Played crap on front nine, could not care less. Hit it four times and pick it up wherever it was on the back nine.Really who can be bothered putting for one point. Cannot see the ball in the rough? No problem - leave it! Maybe it just does not light my fire anymore.

Re: Weekend Frustration & Anger Thread

Just got back from Oulton Hall after a 2 day Howdidido meet and I'm still in shock and not quite sure what to do next :(

Day 1

Front 9: Birdie, birdie, par, par, par, par, par, bogie, par = 1 under and 23 points. What's he doing on this thread I hear you say?......well read on... :o

Back 9: After taking 4 to get down from an inch off the green on the 10th I went on to score 8 points!!!!! A Rory McIlroy of epic proportions.
Queue much drinking and merriment until the wee hours and lots of mixing of drink.....red wine, Whisky, Lager, bitter, Bacardi & coke, Vodka/red bull, more whiskey

Day 2

Front 9: 10 points
Back 9: 9 points
Total 19 points....

Not a happy bunny right now. I know the drink didn't help on day 2, and we were off the whites, I hadn't played the courses before, it was blowing a hoolie, some of the greeens had horrible patches on them........but, for Christs sakes.....8 points, 10 points, 9 points for my last 3 x 9 holes.............. :D

Just going to go up the range Sunday and then I have a mixed comp Monday and will see what happens.......... :(

Re: Weekend Frustration & Anger Thread

Fits in perfectly with this thread Rick. I was -1 gross after 8 and had 22pts (or would have if it were s/f) for the front 9.

Not a collapse of your proportions but frustrating none the less.

Where did it go wrong for you? Bad luck, driving, irons, short game?

Day 1 was the 4 putt on the 10th, then 3 putted the 11th. Next hole was a par 5 and stuffed it in the trees. Found the ball but it was unplayable and couldn't be arsed to go back to the tee and none of the other dropping options would have helped.
Took 3 to knock it back onto the fairway. I then took a driver off the deck and hit it 279 ino the wind onto an uphill green and then 3 putted!!!!!! So 1 point after 3 holes pretty much knocked the stuffing out of me and my head went down.

The greens on the back 9 were also very patchy and the ball kept getting knocked off line, (front 9 the greens were excellent and true).

Day 2 was probably down to the bar the night before!! I was a wreck and didn't have any breakfast. Not sure how I didn't manage to throw up!!!! :o

Now you know how I felt after Hanbury Manor...

Yesterday was bad, really really bad. My tee shots let me down so badly I felt like crying at times it was so embarrassing. By the end I was playing 4 iron off the tee on a long par 5 into a fierce head wind. My irons were poor, putting terrible, and short game very hot and cold.

I 3 putted after a duffed chip on the p4 first for a 7 followed by taking 5 out of a bunker on the p5 3rd for a 10 which really set the tone of the day. I tried not to let it bother me and just move on but I was playing with two new players and just could not laugh it off.

Looking back after a few glasses of wine and a good nights sleep it was not all bad. I gave myself two 12 footers for birdie on par 4s then promptly 3 putted one of them and 2 putted the other for my only par of the day. Overall terrible round but if I can just learn to drive the ball and cure my slice my scores will tumble fast.

Well region3 you will have to come up to mine for a change of scenery and watch me hack round, puts it all into perspective!!

I'd love to sometime. I've heard lots of good things about your course, drive past it every day on the way to work, but have never played there.

Got up - felt rough - threw up - had the trots - no golf

Homer, that was one of your best match reports for a long time. Concise, and to the point. And what's more, interesting!!
Keep it up

;)

:D :D :D

Not picked up a club at all since coming back from Woodhall (is that 2 weeks, or more??) Surely that must be the most frustrating post in this thread.

I would post on this thread but the thought of recalling my horror show of a golfind weekend would tip me over the edge.

All I'll say is:

Saturday - 4 over par after the front nine
After 18 holes: NR

Sunday - NR

NICE!

I hate my driver!
I hate my irons!
I hate my putter!

Other than that, I'm a lovin' my golf.....
