how many and what lofts/bounce do you guys play?
i only really use a 56 deg/14 bounce. its really the only wedge i play, but feel im missing out.......

PW (with my irons) 50-08 and 56-10. I love the gap wedge and use it more and more. I have said in the past I would not get a 60 but I am thinking about it.

i also use the PW that came with my TM Burner Plus'. But thats it......is 14 deg bounce quite a lot and would i benefit from having another wedge with slightly less bounce and more loft? i play parkland courses mostly.

Not easy to give a yes or no answer on that. I am not sure I would have used them in the past, but now they are a huge part of my armory. Best thing to do is find out how far you can hit all your clubs and see if you have a gap. I think people play alot of wedges as they want to play a full shot where they can and as close up as they can.

You clearly understand bounce 14 is alot but thats what I would expect from a Super GI club I guess.

14 deg bounce is a typical Sand Wedge which ties in with the 56 deg of loft.

Designed for shots out of bunkers and heavy rough so the higher bounce on the club prevents the leading edge of the club from digging in.

From fairways and light rough you do not need that amount of bounce as it can lead to the leading edge struggling to get to the bottom of the ball and result in a thin.

From hard and tight lies you need much less bounce especially if you like to open the club face on any shots as this increases the bounce on the club.

You can use your current wedge to great effect in alot of situations but a different selection of wedges can make certain shots easier to execute.

for closer in shots and around the green, would you recommend another wedge, of maybe 58/60 deg with a lot less bounce, maybe 8 or so?

PW (with my irons)
52/07
56/13 (I think)
60/10

To be honest, I didn't pay attention to the bounce when I bought them.

The 60 hardly gets a look in now as I can do most things with the 56...I use it occasionally to get up and down quickly though.

If you are hitting to a pin tight to the edge of the green and have little green to work with then a higher lofter wedge is very useful. Even more so if you have a bunker or object to go over.

Personally I would be looking for something like a Vokey 60/04 which I have (except mine is bent a degree making the loft stronger and bonuce weaker).

This gives me alot of flexability around the greens as being a low bounce club it can be played from the tighter lies even paths and bunkers with little or no sand. It can also be opened without increasing the difficulty of the shot too much to allow me to play some flop or lob shots.

A lot on here will disagree and thats because a lot of it is down to personal preferance.

There is an arguement for a high bounce lob wedge but unless you play in a jungle then its not a good one!!

I use:
PW
52*
58*

I use my Pitching wedge alot, I like punching this into a green instead of taking a full 52* ect. With wedges its what you feel comfortable with and I defently recommend you try before you buy.

I play from the jungle alot :o

I only put that in for dramatic effect and your 56 is a sand wegde not a lob wegde.

Me too, I dont play in the rough too much and am very very happy with my wedge setup at the mo.

Ping G10 PW is 46 Deg then another 3......
Ping Tour-W 50/12
Ping Tour-W 54/12
Ping Tour-W 58/08

The Tour-W's are superb. Distance control bewteen 70 and 120 is one of the best parts of my game and these wedges give me so many options.

I use the PW that came with the set, AP2's then Nike SV tour wedges in 52 and 60 degree lofts both with 10 degrees of bounce. A gap wedge is one of the most important clubs in the bag IMO.

I have a low bounce PW, low bounce 52 and a high bounce 56.

I am currently dropping the low bounce 60 until it is needed when the course is running and firm. It is all soggy at the moment and the other two do all the same shots.

Currently trialling a 3 wedge line-up to give more choice at the top end.
47* pw
52* gw
58* lw

Seems to be working.ok, not missing the extra wedge yet.
