Morning all,

Off to my club this afernoon to get a gap and lob wedge, like the look and feel of the vokeys, anyone out there recommend anything else? Or any tips when buying wedges?

cheers :)

I have the Vokey 54* 14 bounce, and the 58* with 8 degree bounce. Both excellent clubs, and the 58 is so versatile because of the sole grind you get with it.

If you get the vokeys you will not be disappointed, in my opinion.

Think carefully about the lofts you want and know what loft your PW in your iron set is. I've just bought two Ping Tour-W (54 and 58) to replace some aging Clevelands. Will be getting a 50 too giving me 4 degrees between PW (46) right through to 58. I've had 3 extra wedges for 6 years now (don't use the SW in the set) but I don't carry a 3 wood to compensate. Gives me real distance control from 120 in (direction control is perhaps another matter).

Must say I'm impressed with the Pings, heavier than the Clevelands similar feel to Vokey's to be honest. However when choosing brand all the top makes will be fine, I think it's a bit like choosing a putter, just pick one you really like the look and feel of and go for it.

I have just bought the Mizuno Quad cut MPt 10 in a 52/07 56/10 60/5 and they are fantastic IMO much better feel than the Vokeys, try them you will not be disapointed.

bobmac, yeah taking my clubs with me so I can check the yardages of the wedges fit in with my clubs. Budget around

£200, just don't tell the missus!

I have a "Alien" 60 degree LW I bought about 8 years ago for £9.99 which I have used very well in all that time and have never had any complaints about it. Mind you, I am a high handicapper so the benefits of a better wedge would probably be lost on me anyway.

Hi,
I have the MD superstrong wedges and have no complaints with them, if you are not replacing your sand wedge then u don't need to get too high a bounce something around the 8degree mark.

I've got Mizuno R Series 52 and 60, and a 56 MD Superstrong.

The MD at half the price of a top brand is a decent club. Though I'd like to take a look at the new Mizzy Wedges.

Apart from the flat stick, the wedges get more use than any other club in the bag, it's important to find something that you like. Regardless of what we like.

Have fun trying them out.

Used to use a Mizzy sand wedge that came with the irons. Then I moved over to a Vokey 54/10 sand wedge which was OK but a tad heavy. Just bought a Mizzy MX 56 wedge in an AG sale (reduced from £80 to £28), and it's the badgers nadgers. Lighter and with much more feel, just seems to suit my game/swing.

I have two Nike VR wedges - 56/10 and 60/6. I love them both, and the 60 is a particular favourite. It is very versatile, and great for getting out of tight spots.

I managed to get them both off eBay for about £35 each, when they were in the shops at £80+. Couldn't be happier with them.

I used to have Callaway X Tour 56 & 60* wedges and a Mizzy Black Ox 52*.

The Cally's were nice but I much prefer my new Vokeys.
The Mizzy was horrible - but I won it so I shouldn't complain too much.

I'm with Redwood but make sure whatever you get it's this year's model as all wedges being made from Jan 1 will have the new grooves which spin less but as still legal for us mere mortals are a good few years yet!!

Dave Whitlam for me. Hideously expensive, massive carbon foot print too. Forged in Japan, milled in USA, assembled in GB. Mullered by me. Why can't we have sand in the bunkers instead of rocks?

Had Vokeys before. Nice wedges. Might swap back when there is nothing left of my current wedges. Currently propping up the wardrobe.
