Wedge Advice Please

I have sm5 vokeys and they are excellent but importantly get fitted for them there are that many different end variations so Get fitted !

is is it about getting fitted or about trying various bounce and loft variations? I don't think the shaft will too much difference with a wedge but the loft and bounce will. I didn't get fitted for mine but got to take out three variations to determine the best loft and bounce for me.

Try them out and see which ones suit you more. All too often people are obsessed with what brand rather than what suits.

The Vokey that the pro had lent me for a couple of weeks was a well worn 60 with 08 bounce. I loved it immediately. So I bought - 52 and 58 with 08 bounce - I really don't want to carry 4 wedges so chose those lofts to keep my wedge gaps balanced. Just had a few practice chips in the garden and so far they feel excellent.

I have that exact set up in the SM4's and have never been more confident. Had the first RTX's and did not feel they came close and I really did persevere and try to like them as I spent a lot on a 3 wedge set up but took a hit on them and never looked back after getting my Vokeys.

That was my original though but I'm spending that much time with the 52* that I doubt the 58* gets used once a round.

That's fine - unless you are pushed at the other end of the bag!

Unless it's a 'favourite', like the 52 seems to be with you, a 58 (or above) is really only an 'emergency' club from sand or situations like being short-sided with an obstacle in between. Though what club do you use from sand?

I bought some Cleveland wedges recently and just could not get on with them....thin, fat, shanks the lot....to the point where i would use my PW all the time.

Traded them in at AG for some Vokey SM5 and love them! There is a reason why they are expensive and Cleveland are cheaper!

What are the ideal gaps between wedges?
i have a 47 pw (same as irons), 54 sw from ana old set, 58 vokey. The bounce on the 54 is causing some problems and I absolutely love my vokey (as I mentioned + chipped in today with it :-). I was looking at a 52 originally but then thinking 54 and then looking at gap wedge.

Funny that as I'd say the price reflects the marketing rather than the quality on offer

Wedges are personal preference and funnily enough I just picked another CG15 today in 52* to go with my 56*
