Our course has fairway sprinklers fed by the big lakes either side of the course (which can pump water between them when low)

We invested £750,000 last year on course irrigation and it is only in the last couple of weeks that it has been used.

The dry has helped me....I'm not overly long, my balls are rolling quite well....and making getting to a short wedge into the green easier. If I could only control the weather.......

Thinking of not playing Saturday as the forecast is for rain, which we need here in West OZ.

I look back and cannot fathom how I played in England during the winter, must have been mad,

In the late 90s I was on guard duty in the pouring rain, no cover or anything. I was on a gate that got opened at school time to stop the parents and kids going the long way round along a road with no pavement. A kid, about 7 or 8, came up and said ‘not very nice today’ as rain dripped off my nose. I agreed and then he came out with the classic line ‘but the gardens need it’. He will never know how close he came to finding out how accurate I was with a rifle from 3 yards

Still a lot of green on the course so I think having had a high water table is helping at the moment although I notice the practice green which gets heavlily used is starting to pale already. Definitely need some rain, and yes for the garden as well. Ground very firm and the course is getting fiery
