last week we played a fourball doubles match against 2 of the seniors and we got beat 3&2....not to bad when they were getting so many shots.
but this week we had the same opponents and i was thinking quietly that it might be a different story, they were getting 14 shots from my partner and i.their handicaps are 27 and 24 and ours is 5 and 19 so i was thinking we'd do alright......how wrong was i
they never put a foot wrong and played brilliantly from in and around the greens, how they play off such high handicaps is beyond me.getting up and down from bunkers and making plenty pars when they were receiving shots.
we were well and truly trounced 8&6 and tbh we couldn't of done much better, maybe a few holes but most holes we were losing with pars.
a perfect example is the 9th hole,a 515 yrd par 5.i nail a drive and say to my partner you'll more than likely need to hit the green and for us to 2 putt for a birdie 4 and a half.i said this kind of jokingly but in the end up thats exactly what we would of needed to do.we missed the green and chipped it up to about 20ft.
they on the other hand had about 200 yrds to go and put it about 3 yrds short of the green.they then duffed a putt to about 20ft and canned the putt for a par nett birdie:sbox::sbox::sbox:
i mean in my mind i reckon we'd have to play out of our skins to even live with them, let alone beat them.......
