Ok all

So I returned a set of sunderland waterproofs to direct golf as they had started to leak and since they don't have the same ones in stock anymore I have a credit on my account for £110.

Now here is where id like some help.

I'm unsure as to which ones to go for, do I stump up the extra and go for galvin green which would still be a fair bit, pay a little extra and get say footjoy or a different set of Sunderland (not sure I trust them anymore). Or should I go somewhere else and buy say proquip and use my
credit for something else?

What would you do?

Proquip.

/End of thread.

for a hacker its a valid point, Always had Pro-Quip and never found the need to change, i normally buy previous seasons stuff and get a jacket & bottoms combo for about £90.00. a lot cheaper that GG stuff.

:D

What I meant was if Pro Quip is good enough for the 2010 Ryder Cup team in a very wet Wales, it's good enough for the average club golfer. Did you not get that from my original post? ;)

ProQuip!

Not long after getting myself ProQuip TourFlex from Clubhousegolfdirect. One's the Ryder cup team wore in Celtic Manor for £130. Brilliant buy and really do the job so why spend X'£ more on GG when theses do same job for more than half the price

i have Galvin Green waterproof trousers, and a couple of footjoy jackets, 1 long sleeve, 1 short. All work very well. The trousers are excellent, and they get a lot of use in NI. I have never tried proquip, so couldnt compare them, maybe someone else has.
What I do know is that my GG have been in the bag coming up 4 years, not a break in them, and no matter how much rain falls, my lower half is always dry.

waterproofs are totally unecessary- your skin is waterproof, man-up for god's sake.

Snelly didn't need waterproofs back in the 30's when caddied for a four ball, on his own at the age of 6 - no trolleys back then either :D

I bought a Galvin top at Christmas, wore it three or four times on the course and have a problem with it at present. Currently in discussion/ negotiation with Galvin on a resolution. I want to give them a fair chance to resolve this before posting more, but as it stands at the moment, my 4 year old Footjoy waterproof top is a lot more waterproof than my Galvin........

I have another post half written, pending the outcome from Galvin, will keep you updated....

Aah. Another GG thread. They rear their heads every so often.

I'm biased as I have some GG gear. I've found it top quality and worth the money. I wear it a lot off the course too.

You are paying a decent premium for it so you have to decide whether its worth it. If you are prepared to play in the rain then it may well be worth investing. If you're more of a fair weather golfer then save your cash.

I wasn't really asking about galvin green specifically but rather should I look elsewhere as direct golf are pretty limited for the credit I have.

Anyway I think im going to go for the proquip tourflex from clubhouse golf so thanks to all those who suggested them.

I'll hopefully get my money back from direct golf too!

I have a Proquip Ultimate Goretex Jacket.must be 9 years old and although its seen better days,i still use it when walking the dogs in the rain, and its as waterproof and windproof as the day i bought it.
I certainly like the look of the GG gear, and i know its rated very highly, but i wouldn't choose to play in the rain, and if mid round i got caught in a shower,no matter how good the waterproofs,i'd still spend most of my time under the brolley. So really cannot justify spending so much money on some GG waterproofs.
