Waterproofs, any recommendations?

Played in the elements at the weekend in my Proquip suit. Perfectly dry in a 5+ hour round and nice and warm. Lucky to have an FJ suit too and equally as dry. Would never contemplate spending several hundred pounds more on a GG suit as I simply don't think it gives me anything Proquip or FJ doesn't

Is your quest for the highest post count really that important to you you have to post basically the same post just a couple of hours apart in the same thread?

You really should try to get out more

I've compared both posts you mention and theyre not really that similar - also, its a Mid November midweek evening - whats your social diary like for this week?

as for HJS's post count - i dont know if hes trying to keep it artificially high or just contributing a lot to the forum - you seem to be a lot more aware of that situation than others - why is that exactly?

Sure it will have been said you get what you pay for. I've two sets Hugo boss and galvin green both great and will last years. And the arms zip off on the boss jacket. Great bit of kit.

I have a Pro-quip Aquastorm suit which does the job fine for around £100.

20 years ago Pro-quip and Sunderland were the market leaders and both as I recall had a Gore-Tex offering as their top of the range. That was well out of my price range (I had a Sunderland Dolphin - not Gore-Tex). I think back then that Gore-Tex was far the best product in terms of being waterproof and breathable. It seems like since then other similar fabrics have been developed and GG seem to be the main golf brand now with Gore-Tex. Gore Tex is obviously a great product but it may not be so clearly the only real waterproof breathable option these days. Galvin Green stuff does look great and one of my regular PP's swears by them but they are just too expensive for me.

Would be interesting if GM did a test to see if a £300 jacket is really better than an £80 one. Get the GM staff out in a deluge (or stand under a shower!), and see how they get on. Would be a great video review. Or maybe get some forummers involved. ;)

I'd be happy to put a hose on a few...:smirk:
