Waterproofing bag

Has anyone tried these spray on waterproofing things on their bags? Any recommendations on which one to go for?

I've tried them before but was never really that successful with them. Water always got in somewhere. And you have to be careful that the spray doesn't discolour the bag. Also, the zips on conventional bags aren't waterproof and no amount of spray will change that.
In the end I bit the bullet and bought a waterproof bag. It's been absolutely worth it.
