Was I wrong?

Played today on my local 9 Hole which was understandably a little busy. At times there were three groups waiting to tee off. No one behind me and I was in no hurry so I wasn't concerned. However, because of the hold ups I was caught up by two 20 something lads when I was half way down the 5th fairway.

On the 6th they drove off a little too early for my liking with one ball landing not far behind me, I let it go as an error of judgement. But then on the 8th I faded my drive to the right about 200 yds and was aware of the lads arriving at the tee soon after I left it. As I was getting ready to take my second shot, after waiting for the two ahead of me to clear the green, one ball was driven past me about 10 feet left and finished about 10 metres ahead.

Now, apart from being upset that he had driven better than me, I was now hacked off as they were well aware of where I was and only needed to wait a short while for me to be out of range. So I took my shot, walk on and stood firmly on it into the rough. I took a good deal of satisfaction whilst on the green seeing them take a while to find the ball and even more when stood at the next tee and seeing his shot move the ball forward just 20 metres.

But on getting home I feel that I have to ask the above question.

I stood on it and pressed as I walked.

I would have done one of two things:

Picked his ball up and kept going, or

Hit it straight back to him, then walked back told him what an idiot he was, and his mate for allowing him to do it, then smiled and said hang on while I finish my next shot, and do'nt think I'm going to let you through anywhere ahead.

I did the 2nd option during december, the guy behind was in a comp I wasn't.... what fun, and ruined his card. If there is one thing more annoying than slow play it is dangerous play..........

I'm a very chilled out person if you meet me, just get wound up by idiots...................

In the past, I have fired them back, stood on them, picked up there ball etc...

While Im not a serial club thrower, breaker and so on, what really winds me up Is total lack of respect from the group behind. They know if your in range and it won't hurt waiting another few minutes. I know you can't do it, but when you have a golf ball hurtling towards you at 100mph, it becomes a bit of health hazard

This thread had me in stitches. I just don't understand the logic of driving within range of someone else, they would only have to wait for you to putt befor ethey take the second shot.

No I totally disagree with this! Say whatever you want to the guy, punch him on the nose for all I care but I would not touch someone else's ball. You broke the code as much as him.

I`d have told him what a complete bell-end he was and suggest that his ball not come within 30 yards of me again if he wanted to keep it. Putting people in danger is mindless, and could, in theory, cost him an awful lot of money. Remember that fella that lost an eye? £400,000 or there abouts in compensation.
