Hi everyone

Following a session on one of those fancy machines with too many cameras I'm after a set of irons. Money wont stetch to a new set so am looking for used - Stiff steel shafts, 2 degrees upright but standard length.

most modern sets considered

Thanks, Kev

You could buy standard lie and get it knocked up 2*. Forged would knock up easier than cast... not sure I'd want to knock up cast that much...

How much have you got to spend pal it will save people telling you they have a set at 300 when you only have 200 for example

I have a set of Taylor Made RAC coin forged irons 4-pw. R300 tour shafts, well used but loads of life left in them. brand new Black Widow grips. Ill let them go £200 posted. These are split cavity.

The biggest problem is that there is no standard length, loft and lie between manufacturers.

For example..

Callaway RazrX 6 iron
Loft 28* Lie 62* length 37.5"

TaylorMade RBZ 6 iron
Loft 26.5 Lie 62.5 Length 37.625"

Ping G20 6 iron
Loft 29* Lie 61.5* Length 37.25"

Mizuno JPX 800 6 iron
Loft 30* Lie 61* Length 36.75"

Titleist AP1 6 iron
Loft 29 Lie 62.5 Length 37.5.

So lofts vary from 26.5 to 30 degrees, lie angle from 61-62.5 degrees and length from 36.75-37.625"

That is indeed a good point. But most of those length/lie combinations sort of match - even if not exactly to a 'standard' 6 iron.

My TM set is built off a 48* PW. Current TM sets are built off a 45* set - and 9-iron diff is even greater! Oh an my 6 iron is 37"!
