Walnut the whippet

I've followed this story with empathy, and yes I did shed a few tears. Its 7 months since Bessdog had her last walk. I miss her every day.

Saw it yesterday and bless him he got a fantastic send off. I laughed when his owner said he has been through a lot, then added two marriages and three engagements.

RIP Walnut.

I've always had dogs and when I saw this the wife and I looked at each other and said "WTF?" There are kids being blown up and shot all over the world, others are dying from malnutrition, cancer and so on and we are supposed to get cut up about a dog which has had a great life?

Thats as may be, but he obviously loved his dog. I don't go for the whole putting things out on social media, but who are we to say he shouldnt show his love for his animal?

In a world where bad things happen every single day it's a wonderful thing to see the unswerving, unconditional love between a man and his dog...

...
Lovely story and something I think uniquely British about it.

Lovely story indeed - but certainly not 'uniquely British'!

And, with all due respect, by the apparent state of Walnut in the vid, it seems as if it should have happened a little while ago!

If that seems a bit heartless, I've had to agree to euthanise 3 cats, 2 dogs and (worst of all) 2 horses!

Agree that possibly the decision should have been taken a while ago, it is obvious that he was suffering and nobody wants to see that.

However I can't see any other country giving the same news coverage to a story like this, it is uniquely British in my opinion .
