Big brother

I can perhaps understand folk (daftly) using a mobile, but not using a seatbelt is absolutely barmy.

I remember when he played for west ham Paul konchesky pulled up in a bus stop in upminster, got out car. Noticed that his seat belt was done up behind him to stop the alarm going off

Daft as a brush

My FiL used to put the seat belt on but then pull out loads more of it than was required. He would then secure the excess with a bulldog clip. It looked like he was wearing it from outside the car but would have been useless in an accident.

That seems more effort than actually putting it in correctly.

Why would it be useless in an accident?

Too loose. The seat belt would stop him eventually but those few cm's of give would allow for an element of whiplash that wouldn't be there if worn correctly.

Also, depending on the amount of excess it may allow his head to something hard.

Don't worry about it. Its only a manifestation of Natural Selection at work ...
