This is a weird one for me... Played with a lad on the forum and he waggles before a shot... I have always thought it made no difference to be fair but tried it at the range today and the striking was awesome. I have particularly struggled off the tee with being so stiff/rigid that I have kind of lashed at the ball sending it out left and right without much control.

After seeing him do it I thought I might give it a go next time I am practicing and after reading Colsaerts piece in this months mag about how much it loosens you up I gave it a go. I have noticed sometimes I am stuck over the ball for longer than normal and feel so awkward but with this it really makes a difference.

Worth a go if anyone hasn't tried it. Do many of you do it?

The strange thing is that i do it at the range but not on the course. I think it helps me slow things down, concentrate and not go through a bucket of balls in no time but I have no idea wh I don't do it on the course. Note to my playing partners this weekend, remind me to waggle

I was told that waggling reduces excess tension in the arms. Now all I need is something that releases excess tension everywhere else, and is legal on a golf course.

Yep, can't imagine not doing it. I remember reading an article by Nick Price saying he worried the trend for some pros to start from static would trickle down to our level, he said pros can maintain perfect muscle pressure but for mere mortals a waggle can help loosen up the big muscles just as you say. While I waggle I'm looking at the target, its subconscious now, so though you feel like you are extending your time over the ball with time itll become natural. As with anything if it works why question it!

Yeah its definitely helping... No I meant I am standing over the ball a little too long prior to trying it today at the range... I think because I was static that initial second where I start the swing was becoming a massive swing thought and nothing was natural...

I also noticed I hit my 4 & 5 Iron better than ever... I knew I worked up those lower irons in my head and swung that bit harder before but this completely takes that away.
