Visitors at your club

We were away last week at a golf training school (pm Sun, Mon, Tues & Wen). We decided that we would play 18 in the morning with lessons in the pm. To make sure we got round in time for our lessons we teed of at 8.30 and on both Tuesday and wednesday we were pushed and moaned at by members of the club. I had to politely explain to 2 chaps on Tuesday that our 4 ball was playing as fast as possible and we were being held up by a 4 ball in front (part of our group of guys so we were pushing them anyway) and that they were being held up by a 2 ball (club members) in front. It was pretty obvious they didnt like the fact we were using "their" course. We managed to complete our round in just over 4 hours so not exactly slow and I'm sure had the 2 ball not been there it would have been a little quicker. I didnt play the 18 on the Wednesday but the 4 four that did go out got moaned at by a group of ladies (inc the ladies captain) for being slow and not letting them play through, once again they had been keeping up with the group in front who had been held up but another group in front.

The course was great but I certainly felt that some of the members felt like we were invading there hallowed ground and shouldn't be there. I wonder how long they will survive if it was not for the guys paying 350 for 3 days training and accommodation during the week.

were the groups behind you in less than four balls?

if there were faster groups in theory you should let faster groups though, what in front isn't a factor.

Are you sure, If the course ahead is packed letting them through benefits no one, just causes you an even longer back log and if that is the case then the group in front should be letting you through, which they are obviously not doing. The same rule would need to be applied for everyone

Im a member at 2 clubs, both welcome visitors slightly differently but both welcome them.

1 club takes in around £16k a year from visitors and guests, the other takes in over £180k. Visitors are free money and having listenend to an old fella at Hillside say "enjoy your day, you guys are keeping our fees down" that stuck with me. Clubs should remember that every visitor is a potential new member and should be treated as a member for the day.

Both times they were 2 balls behind.

As i said in theory faster groups should be let though, regardless of whats going on in front. so a 2 ball (you would hope) would be much quicker than a 4 ball. once through you would hope the group in front do the same.
