I had this mad idea last night.
We all know the format "bogey" (matchplay against the "card"), could this be used for a virtual competition between GMFUs?
What I was contemplating (I'll happily go back into rehab, if I've slipped back to insanity) was calling for players to put their names into a hat to be drawn at random to play one another a la knockout comp', except against our home courses.
We pick a period of time (a two week slot, say) in which to go around your local track playing against the card. You'd need someone "real" to keep a genuine score (wouldn't stop you playing a bounce game alongside).
Then, as an example, player A has drawn player H.
Player A has ended up 2 down, player H 1 up, so he goes. through. If you lose the round, you bin the card. If you go through you keep the card. Work down from 32-16-8-4 etc. until you have the GM virtual champion. One round, one month per round (in a two week slot, say) = 6 months.
Difficult to explain, but could work???
