vinyl album values

I have just read an article on vinyl album sales , and there has been a large increase in the last couple of years even though the sale price is often at least double that of cd's . I have two tea chests full of albums in the loft that rarely see the light of day, but i wont get rid of my turntable and have always said i will not sell my albums,
But having searched e bay i have found that they are worth quite a lot , many are about £15 but some , eg. Santana lotus (triple album) £55 ,wow . Pink floyd prices a very good.
Thinking now that collectively there is a lot of money sitting there, although i do think the value could get even higher in the future , .
Most of my albums have been well looked after and most are in a plastic sleeve cover,
What albums have you got , do they still get played or are they all in storage , would you sell them, for some reason mine have a large sentimental value , when i look through them i can often remember buying them or it prompts memories of seeing a particular band live.

My vinyl collection is about the only thing I've not tried to sell on the 'bay... Have occassionally watched some listed that I have just to see what it achieves in value... But not yet tempted to sell mine...

Got some unplayed picture discs which on the right day could achieve a decent value... But I reckon herselfs very early Elton John stuff would achieve the best values... Her brother lived next door to EJ when he lived in Northwood and herself used to knock on his door and have him sign 'em... This was long before he was a well known act and a gig in a local pub was considered a good pay day...

I work in t'music industry and got into vinyl a years ago (having missed it first time round). I think a lot of people really want something solid now that everything is shifting to digital, but something which still sets them apart from their mum and dad who go to Tesco's to buy the new Take That album. Whatever it is, vinyl sales were the highest they'd been for about 25 years I think in 2012 and forcast to rise again this year.

I was lucky in that my dad had pretty good taste (in my opinion!) so when I bought my turntable he gave me a load of his old stuff which he no longer listens to. Pretty much everything the Jam ever recorded along with lots of Pink Floyd, Blondie, Dire Straits etc.

Mum's still got some old Beatles stuff but don't want to take that for fear of losing / breaking!

A girl who works in our office has a Uriah Heep, 1st press, on the Vertigo (Black & While Swirl), from the 70's that's worth £150.

I did a boot market last month and took all my LP's and everything I thought would be worth good money came home as I wasn't prepared to give them away for a couple of quid and those that I would have happily thrown away flew out at good money.

I didn't take my picture disk's though, I've got some nice Madness, Dave Bowie picture discs in singles, 12" & LP's.

I was looking into how much my GnR AFD lp would be worth. It's the one with the banned sleeve artwork. Apparently not a lot is the conclusion I came to. I'll just have to keep hold of it for another 25 years!!!!

The other 200 lp's are stored. Even now, I can't get some of it digitally, iTunes, Spotify etc. So I'm keeping the lot for now.

I love my vinyl collection! I've got loads of stuff on 7 and 12".

I've got a great stereo system and a nice turntable.

Unfortunately I've got two young children and they don't mix with turntables, stylus' and vinyl very well!

When they're older though my stereo system is coming out!

If you use ebay to try to gauge value, remember to make sure you're looking at the completed items results, rather than currently listed items!

Quite a few in storage, the wife has just sold her signed (x4) Beatles album, went for an obscenely large amount, deposit for daughters flat largely sorted !!!!!!!

Vinyl in the right market can be hugely valuable. I own around 3000 vinyls and some pretty rare pressings.
One such was a clear vinyl pressing on a Dutch label called Ruffneck. There were only 200 clear pressings made and I sold my copy for £275 last year. I bought it in 1994 for £4.99.
I also have a very valuable original pressing of Vangelis - Blade Runner.
