Hi,

I am looking to buy my husband a vintage wood /set of vintage golf clubs for our 5th wedding anniversary. The traditional gift is wood therefore I either want clubs with wooden shafts, or a driver/wood that would fit this theme. I have no idea where to start on this - whats good, whats not etc. Any ideas/thought starters/advice would be very welcome!

thanks

A Mashie Niblick would be a great present.

There's a company that advertise in the back of Golf Monthly that sell Persimmon (wooden) clubs. I'm sorry but I can't recall their name. Get hold of this/next months copy and have a look.

Hi Loopyloo.

Have a look on ebay. Some of the sellers may be shops that specialise in old clubs, and you can usually check out their websites.

Good luck

.

Modesty forbids

Interesting idea. Made me wonder what was available and after a bit of googling found

www.antiquegolfclub.co.uk

www.glencall.co.uk/class.html

and

www.standrewsgolfco.com/shop_subcategory.asp?categoryid=1&subcategoryid=165

who seem to sell antiques or replicas.

In addition there are companies that make "modern" clubs using wood. These people advertise in Golf Monthly

www.persimmongolfeurope.com

I have no personal knowledge or experience of any of these companies and this is not any sort of recommendation. Just thought I'd see what was there and let you know what I found.

Good luck.

Funny you should say that Whiffy, I have a set of shiny Mizuno woods (1,3,5) called 'Black turbo II' in practically MINT condition, never been hit that are circa 25yrs old I think - selling for £50ono
