i spent most of yesterday flat on my back with this bloody thing .
the wife has got me a doctors appointment for this morning ,what good that will do i dont know.
the wife also had to take yesterday off work to keep an eye on me ,as i needed help with the toilet and the such .
its just so debilitating .and you feel so rough that their is very little you can do to help yourself .
i wouldnt wish it on anyone.:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Sounds like an inner ear infection, I had one a few years ago, all my balance went and felt like i was permanently falling and feeling car sick.
it clears up quite quickly with antibiotics.
hope it sorts it self out

Sounds like Labyrinthitis me old son, been there, done that, got the spew stained T-shirt.

Doc prescribed strong anti-histamines, worked a treat for me, right as rain within no time.

Hope you get sorted A.S.A.P.

Ive had Labyrinthitis and it's pretty nasty. Drs said if you've had it once you'll likely get it again but that hasn't happened (touch wood)

I was prescribed drugs to combat the dizziness but for me made the symptoms worse. The only respite I got was lying down with eyes closed, thankfully it was over in 2-3 days.

the trip to the docs ended up with me given some pills to put under my tongue when it kicks off again . Buccastem M they are called .i will let you know how i get on .
the doc wants me back in a month as he has some other ideas . probably a lead poultice to do the job properly.

Both my parents have had vertigo, with different experiences.

My father had an ear infection and it all cleared pretty quickly.
My mother seems to have developed it as a chronic condition.

I hope yours is the former. I think my mother has been through a number of treatment options, and none seem to have worked particularly well. I'd be interested in any successful outcomes. I will check with her about antihistamines, as this does not ring a bell.
