VCSS ????

Their handicap adjustments at Home are calculated using the scores of other Home players as a benchmark. Their handicap adjustments Away are calculated using the scores of other Away players as a benchmark. I can argue this all night if you want.

I can kind of see both sides to this but am more on the side of williamalex1. Two players with the same handicap shooting the same score on the same course on the same day should have the same handicap reduction.

I also can't help thinking that a situation of an AWAY player has played the course many times (an ex-member for example) who could get an extra cut due to VCSS on a course he knows like the back of his hand.

Mind you, I don't agree with CSS so it's no real surprise I don't agree with VCSS either!

As someone who had played a fair amount of comps away from home I find this an interesting subject. I would expect a home player off the same handicap to beat me say seven times out of ten. Why? Because they know the course better than I do and therefore have a sound method of playing the course. As a visitor I am more than likely going to make a couple of course management mistakes simply due to not knowing the subtleties of the course. Knowledge of the breaks on the green is a huge advantage in itself.
I don' t expect to have a vcss for every away comp but it is not unfair in my view.
