Not wanting to get in to an argument but just some views on a decision from yesterdays Chelsea\Wednesday match , when the ref gave a penalty to Wednesday
that VAR subsequently (and it appears correctly so ) overturned it, saying Ampadou got to the ball , i thought the ball went out of play so should a corner have been
awarded ? I did not understand why a drop ball was given unless the keeper kept it in , i confess i did not see the events after the tackle so any thoughts ?

Yeah I thought it was a clear corner, I still don’t understand how it could be a drop ball.

I didn't see the game, only highlights. Ref gave a pen but VAR overturned and should have given a free-kick to Chelsea as the Ampadou was fouled.

He wasn’t fouled, it was a great tackle from Ampadou, which in this day and age is a rarity.

I haven't seen it, but the only explanation I can think of is that the ref blew for the initial penalty before the ball actually crossed the line to go out of play?

Apparently he blew immediately so the ball was dead before it went over the line for the corner. The drop ball is apparently the agreed restart procedure when the decision is overturned.

I’m more concerned about why only one person at that end of the stadium couldn’t see it was a great tackle...:mad::mad:

I'd like to know why the folk in Stockley Park are ignoring obvious transgressions (in the 'box') when corners are being taken... If they can't see what's happening they should be getting themselves to Specsavers...

Not being argumentative but if thats so why did the VAR not award a foul ? Seems a bit hit and miss to me this VAR mullarkey .

If the game had been played in Sheffield it would have stood as a pen.

Despite following Wednesday i would hope not , it looked a good tackle and that's what the game needs to get back too .
We lost and that's all there is to it a good game by all accounts and not much rolling about on the floor as if your leg had been
ripped off from the bits i saw .

There would have been no VAR available at Wednesday's ground.

Why would there not be ? Is it not only TV cameras and a link back to Stockley Park ?
Again, not being arsey just cannot see the sense of having a system thats not universally available\transportable to any venue .

VAR technology only available at premiership clubs at present apparently. Seems strange and unfair that depending on where you are playing will decide who can get the benefit of VAR. IMO if it's not available to all in a round it shouldn't be used.

Best thing to do with VAR is scrap it. Football is better without it.
Wrong. They are just using it badly at the minute. They need to hurry up and get it sorted before it comes in properly next season. Limit it to only questionable goals, penalties and red card decisions for a start. And only when the ref feels he didn't have a clear view, he should trust himself and his linesmen otherwise.

They will never get it right. Even if they limit it you your suggestions it won’t work. Football flows, that’s why it’s exciting. Waiting around while the Ref has his finger in his ear will spoil the game.
It might be ok for the armchair fan but as a live spectacle it will be diminished. The referee and linesmen make the decisions on the spot good or bad.

One or two have mentioned it was a good tackle, when I first saw it I thought it was a nailed on penalty. When i saw the action replay. I thought the Chelsea player never touched the ball initially, it was the sheff weds player that kicked the Chelsea lads leg which in turn then carried through onto the ball. I didn't think that as such it was a tackle but a foul by the sheff weds lad. That aside I thought it was good defending by the Chelsea lad ( after I had seen the replay 3 times).
