Play at Lanark; £600 plus this year, still waiting on the letter with new amount dropping through the door.

Great 18 hole track, stunning condition all year round and no winter greens (winter greens are marked out but are only ever put on for a hard frost).
Nice 9 hole short course for the juniors and for practising par 3s and mid length par 4s.
Internal course driving range with bays and greens to aim at.
Good practise area, again with greens for short game and a bunker for sandwork.
2 putting greens.
Good value and qaulity food in the clubhouse.
Always good fields for the medals each week.
Great banter in the clubhouse and always a friendly atmosphere.

More than worth it........

Toad, you lucky b******

Throughout the summer, with flexi-time, I can get 3 or 4 rounds in a week though Friday afternoons are a drag behind the societies (finishing at 8:30 or later isn't an issue for me so maybe a late start Friday might solve that). With a 5-day odd weekends were played away at different courses - good for experience.

This year I may take 7-day, though Sundays are out for me, but I can add Saturdays (very early!). Flexi-days off will probably be with the society at work (bit hypocritical I know but they can all play) at a variety of courses.

Ah of course, the dreaded 'joining fee'. Thankfully my club have a policy of once paid for, you never have to pay again for life. So when I had my 7 year hiatus, I just re-joined without hassle or argument. Of course, if I ever want to join another club I run the risk of having to do it all again.

Joining fees should be scrapped - no doubt. They only serve to force people to stay at a club and this in turn can lead people to just giving up membership altogether.

On the other hand, do you really need to move/have a wife/procreate...? Just think what you could spend the money on!
