Vaccine booster

Tell us again exactly what your job is at the nuclear power station? ? ?

Not been offered mine yet but it’s nearly 6 months since I had my 2nd AZ so should be contacted soon.

Think if it's over 5 months you can now look to book, albeit not before the 6 months & 1 week period between your second jab & your booster. (y)

Had mine a week ago. First two jabs were AZ, booster was Pfizer. No issue with the booster except for a couple of days, my arm felt a bit tender - like someone had jabbed it with a needle or something?

Had mine on Thursday at UWE Bristol - the booster lines all said Moderna, the 1st/2nd lines said Pfizer. Had to wait 15 minutes after before allowed to leave but in and out in 25 mins total. Slightly achey arm but otherwise ok.
Good to see most people going for boosters and positive daily numbers. Might have got a bit lucky with the timing of this programme prior to going into winter.

AZ is not being used as a booster. Apparently the others are more effective as boosters and AZ is concentrating on 1st and 2nd timers.

AZ isn't really being given any more. It is a good vax but not as good as the others, boosting previous AZ recipients with Pfizer or Moderna gives a very good improvement in response.

AZ is still being given as a first/second dose to certain younger age sectors. Further, due to its storage and transport requirements, the AZ vaccine is much more easily delivered in some settings, and in these settings may be the only vaccine it is practical to offer. In such circumstances JCVI advises ... individuals in this event should be offered the AZ vaccine.

The storage conditions for mRNAs have been relaxed as more information has become available over time such that few places can't administer it. Maybe a temporary clinic on Rockall or somewhere similar. I doubt there should be many new AZ recipients and there did not appear to be any coverage for them at the big walk-in centre I attended.

I think the subtext is that despite much previous promotion. Govt has finally accepted what they should have accepted from the start, that Pfizer should be the foundation vax of the strategy, and AZ Has run its race. Because there are more cases observed in AZ recipients, the population effect of its wide usage now means there is a lower degree of effective population coverage, hence boosters are more important here than in other countries with an apparently similar degree of population coverage but with mRNAs.
