using another players club?

Im asking this question on behalf of a mate so i wasnt there to witness the actual event so info ive got is third hand...

Player A and player B were sharing a buggy and player A takes a shot and then accidentally puts the club into player B's bag, then on the next hole player B played a shot with that club and only realised after the stroke that it wasnt his club... any help with ruling on this would be much appreciated.

And apparently they both use the same make of clubs and player B only realised it wasnt his club as the grip was different.

You are limited to the clubs you selected for the round [Rule 4-4a]. B had not selected his mate's club and so is penalised 2 strokes on the hole where he played the shot with it.

"when B made a stroke with A's club, he .......... was subject to penalty under Rule 4-4a for using a club selected for play by another person playing on the course."
