I was playing on Saturday in the glorious sunshine :). I have a remote control trolley and as I often do I sent my trolley on ahead and stopped it next to my ball on the fairway. When I got there I noticed that quite by accident the shadow cast by my trolley was giving me the perfect line for my next shot.

I'm pretty sure that I can't position my trolley on purpose in order to assist with my alignment (certainly against the spirit of the game if not the rules), but where do I stand if its done accidentally?

As it was I moved my trolley before playing my next shot but the discussion with my playing partners proved inconclusive.

If you look at 8-2a/0.5 you will see, by analogy to the towel example, that you would have been fine from a rules perspective.

However, the reality of such things is that prior to playing your shot you started thinking about something else (-a rules question!) So from a performance perspective you certainly did the right thing in moving it out of sight, and hopefully out of mind...

If you have a PSR like Jason Days, it would probably be a foot or two out of line by the time you hit the ball, so no biggie :P

Surely there must be a rule break just for having a remote control trolley :ears:
