Hi guys,
Not really a big issue but i am having a mini debate ! :p
I have a dozen pro v's that i was bought, my grandparents who bought me them said i could do what i want with them be it sell them or whatever after explaining it was an expensive premium ball.
I dont have a ball preference in all honesty and i have 2 dozen new wilson staff balls to use anyway. Rather than just leave them lying around for months should i sell them?
Is there anything to gain using them??

Also, if i do sell, any body have an idea of postage as i will stick them in the f/s section! :D
Many thanks :)

I mean i have used other pro v's and i cant really see much of a difference, i cant get spin with anything really,
But i was thinking with my handicap lowering??? maybe keep them for when i am lower

or the srixon Z star and new Z star 4 piece, the Prov is a good ball but you need a good consistent swing to really reap the benefits it has, sell them and use the others you have, when better then you can buy prov's as they will be improved each year as well

Ill give you a twix, a can of fanta, and a pencil for them?

Good offer but no thanks! :D

John you just don't understand the youth of today and to be fair golfer you need to update your profile as you are 17 now (not that your username gives it away ;) )

I'll give you a choice between a £5 iTunes voucher of five quid mobile phone credit ;)

Sell 'em. You'll get around £30 - £35 on ebay

A high handicapper shouldn't be using that type of ball for 2 reasons -

1) the spin you'll get is amplified in all directions, i.e. not just back spin but hook and slice spin so your game may suffer.

2) Every time you loose one its £4 out of your pocket (or in this case your grandad's pension)!

I would suggest the NXT or DT. With the money from the ProVs you could get 2 dozen new NXT/DT, or even better go for 3 dozen AAA grade ones.

A little story for you........

About 20yrs ago, when I was playing off about the same Handicap as you, I was out playing a few holes one summer evening, I'd recently joined my Club, and was loving it.
I was joined by another member, who at the time, was playing off a much lower handicap, and pretty much matched him for a few holes, with the exception that my shots into greens took a bounce and invariably rolled off, or certainly didnt stop as quickly.
He asked me what ball I was playing with, and my answer was that I didnt honestly know, - was it a wound ball, 2 piece or whatever ? I'd no idea.

He said that if I was playing shots to greens like I was, I should be playing with a better ball, and rummaged through my bag and found a Titleist Balata ball, used - but playable, and quite honestly, the difference that ball made to my game was immediately noticeable.
Shots to greens stopped quicker, simple as.

I used the Balata balls for quite some time, but they were very easily cut/marked/scuffed, but now - the ProV's are infinitely more durable.

I'd give them a go if I were you, it could make the same difference to your game.
Good luck.

I think you need to consider 2 things:

1/ What would you get through using them?

2/ What would you get selling them?

If you use them, they have personally cost you nothing and you'll also get an idea of whether a 'better ball' will be of benefit to your game.

If you sell them you'll need to list them, wrap and post them and at the end of all that you'll have maybe £25 - £30 to spend - but on what?

If you really need the money, sell them. Otherwise give them a try!
