Urban myths

Nike don't make their own clubs!

Nike balls are actually Bridgestone/Titleist (take your pick) stamped with a Nike logo.

Ping are only played by old farts!

The "nearest point of relief" means you should have a good lie with a free swing and a shot to the green - see Definitions in the Rules

No it doesn't, or is this you stating the urban myth?

Just to clarify that's me stating the the myth. The real definition is in the rules and if it means you have to drop your ball in a clump of cabbage behind a tree then tough luck that's where you drop it.

Also in case of ambiguity it's not a myth that "Most non-golfers still think golf balls have miles of elastic bands wound up inside them" - I meant most non-golfers believe the myth that that's how they are still made. It didn't quite come out right but I'm sure you all know what I mean.

Just confusing because some of your statements where correcting urban myths and some weren't. Would have been very surprised if you had been putting that forward as correct procedure though Mashie. Although sometime I wish it were true!
