Urban myths

Not sure what sort of things you mean but I guess I'd suggest on the Rules front

"Declaring" your ball lost - you can't - Rule 27

Thinking you have to re-drop if your ball bounces outside the the 1 or 2 club lengths dropping area - in fact it can go up to 2 more club lengths from where it first landed provided it doesn't go nearer the hole or various other things (e.g. into a hazard or onto a putting green) - Rule 20-2c iv

You are automatically entitled to relief from a rabbit scrape even if your ball is in the middle of a bramble thicket see Rule 25-1 Exception

The "nearest point of relief" means you should have a good lie with a free swing and a shot to the green - see Definitions in the Rules

And more generally

Handicaps are based on Par.

There's a Major called the "British Open"

Most non-golfers still think golf balls have miles of elastic bands wound up inside them.

Higher handicap players can play blades, it's the shaft that really matters...........

Runs for cover and ducks well below the parapet ;)

High handicap golfers can putt like MacDowell, chip like Michelson, drive like Westwood, hit irons like Sergio, but the reason they play off a high handicap is they don't practice.

The average Forum golfer, drives (carrys) the ball 267yards and hits the centre of the fairway most times ;)

Until they attend a forum meet then shoot 20 points missing every single fairway, occasionally dumping one in the ditches.

When you reach your handicap target for the season, you'll be happy.

When someone offers you a score 2 under your handicap on the first tee of a medal, you'd be happy with it.
