Hi guys

I was bought for my birthday in december a pair of vokey wedges after inspecting them today I have found corrosion on the faces and the sole of one of them. I have not played more than 5 rounds with these babys and I am sure this should have happened.

What should I do?

Some of the finishes are meant to rust.

I have a little bit of rust on the face of my sand wedge. It is about 2 years old and is chrome finish. Made the mistake of putting it back in a headcover without getting all the sand and water off it first. Comes off fine with a rough cloth and a bit of toothpaste though.

OK, black nickel should not rust (although it is a delicate finish) unless there is surface damage. Oil Can and older Raw finish wedges are intended to rust.

If the wedges have rusted after 5 rounds, and there was no damage, say from hitting stones etc, bring them back to the retailer where you bought them.

I thought they only did 'oil can' or 'tour chrome' these days? There isn't a black Ni finish one is there?
As Craw suggests maybe they're not bona fide?

Could you take and post a couple of decent quality pictures?

My vokey SW suffers quite badly from surface rust. Sand and wet is going to do this.
I try to wipe it down before storing for more than a day or so.
My old Mizuno TP SW was an absolute rust monster. Neither are supposed to rust, but they will pick up small spots....it's inevitable. Age doesn't seem to have anything to do with it, my Vokey was bought new and suffered from day 2. :(

Just been looking at a review in TG of the.. Cleveland CG15 DSG, now that is a cool wedge, shame they don't do the DSG in chrome because I would get some. Why develop a great wedge to only supply in a ginna colour???

Same story as Scotty putter thread. Chrome plated clubs don't rust, and Black Nickel shouldn't either, although the finish will wear. Raw wedges and carbon steel clubs, whether Titleist or anything else, will rust. Some like it that way. If you don't, but Chrome.

Chrome is a porous finish. Even chrome will rust.

Most soft heads, forged or cast will rust a bit if left wet, and often start from pits caused from hitting from sand.

Rust doesn't affect performance in any way (negatively or positively). Don't worry about it. You have nice wedges, in the best finish. The rust will wear off the next time you hit a bunker shot.

Ping don't rust. They are cast from rock hard steel. As a result, they have no feel. They don't rust, ding, exhibit bag chatter, and when the world has ended there will be a cockroach sitting on a ping wedge.

What, like the one Angel Cabrera uses? You know, the bloke what won the Masters last year?
