As you may recall, I posted a thread on here a few months ago where I was able to share my elation at having won one of our summer medals (something I never really expected to achieve).

By winning the summer medal, it entitled me to a place in the summer medals finals day marking the end of the summer season. So naturally I played in the finals day, and shot a semi respectable net 73 (which when I'd shot 54 on the way out, was quite an achievement), I checked the board, not really out of much hope and it turns out I'd come 5th in my division.....so I forgot about it.

Yesterday though, I received an email from the club asking me to attend the end of season presentation evening next Tuesday as the Summer Medal winner from division 3 :-) Turns out the 4 people with better scores than me were all in the subsidiary competition rather than the Summer Medal final :-)

A little embarrassed having won something with a nett score of 4 over, but extremely pleasing nonetheless (particularly give my back 9 that day was actually some of the best golf I've played all year).

Really tops off a good year, easily my best ever year playing golf, just a shame I wasn't able to get a good sub par score to give me a nice handicap drop as well...but I guess you can't have everything :-)

All wins are good wins, you can only do what you can do.

I played in our monthly Stableford on Wed, the guy who's card I marked got 20 points on first 9 ( the back 9) and then had two blobs on next 9 for 34 and surprisingly won the comp on countback, I'd never heard of a comp won with less than 36 points but good luck to him.

I once won a club Stableford with 33 points.
Many entries and good weather/conditions.
I tied with about seven others and won OCB.
Two of my playing partners scored better but did not bother to hand their cards in as the stablefords were generally won with 40+ points.

Just goes to show that you never know.
