As you may recall, I posted a thread on here a few months ago where I was able to share my elation at having won one of our summer medals (something I never really expected to achieve).
By winning the summer medal, it entitled me to a place in the summer medals finals day marking the end of the summer season. So naturally I played in the finals day, and shot a semi respectable net 73 (which when I'd shot 54 on the way out, was quite an achievement), I checked the board, not really out of much hope and it turns out I'd come 5th in my division.....so I forgot about it.
Yesterday though, I received an email from the club asking me to attend the end of season presentation evening next Tuesday as the Summer Medal winner from division 3
Turns out the 4 people with better scores than me were all in the subsidiary competition rather than the Summer Medal final
A little embarrassed having won something with a nett score of 4 over, but extremely pleasing nonetheless (particularly give my back 9 that day was actually some of the best golf I've played all year).
Really tops off a good year, easily my best ever year playing golf, just a shame I wasn't able to get a good sub par score to give me a nice handicap drop as well...but I guess you can't have everything
