You said this ^^^^

I figured this was not your first holiday since becoming diabetic and wondered why you wouldn't plan on using more test strips?

I'm a smoker and I wouldn't go away for the weekend without enough cigs!

Laugh out loud!! Brilliant analogy.

Time we got back to Darwinism and saved the NHS heaps of money!

Tongue severely held in cheek!

Though a little forward planning wouldn't have gone amiss! I know 2 D1 guys that do so!

Hold on a MOD EDIT minute.

A bit of forward planning eh? What like asking for my prescription earlier than usual?

Yes I can see your point, that'll work a treat.

I think this sounds like it was badly handled, but be aware that the PCT/CCG (i.e the overlords) are policing prescription usage very strongly and the surgeries are getting pt under serious pressure. I know some GPs who are getting their heads done in by the nonsense. Now it may be the GP who is limiting this, but I suspect not.

I must also say the idea that you need to test more because you are eating and drinking (presumably not water) on holiday should be a warning to self rather than an argument to bash the surgery with.

How long have you been diagnosed as D1? What are you going to do next holiday? Did the wedding/honeymoon not also involve similar additional testing - and planning/consideration?

What a self righteous knob of an answer. Not surprising mind you.

I test more during an active holiday because I like keeping control of diabetes. And with an HBA1C of 5.5 I think even you will appreciate that it is very, very well controlled.

And Foxholer you are totally misunderstanding this. If I had asked for say 3 boxes more to go on holiday because I know I am going to use more I would then have to ask for a repeat when I was running out of that batch.............they would still have said no as I would have been far too early for a repeat in their eyes...their words not mine when that exact example was given.

Good to see I am getting picked on for trying to take care of my health.

Bollocks to it I should just stop testing and hope for the best eh?

That's exactly what the 2 sufferers I know do!

Seems 'the authorities' may have tightened up - for cost rather than health purposes I'd suggest!

Stopping testing goes back to my Darwinism approach!

You are, after all, spending more of 'my' taxes while you enjoy yourself with the extra food/drink on your holiday - while being aware of the additional risk! Does that not seem a tad irresponsible? Would you be prepared to pay the actual cost of the additional testing involved?

So on my holiday I cannot have a pint or three more just in case I cost the tax payer,of which I am one, more cash?

This place is over run with MOD EDIT

I am out.

Some might say you want the lot - Holiday; 'a pint or three more'; and the ability to spend tax-payer's cash to check you haven't endangered yourself!

Not me of course - I'm a Darwin fan!
