Lucas bloody Glover?!?!?!

I'll have £100 on him never winning another major! lol

Fair play to him for winning it, but in my eyes it is slightly tainted, had any of the "big boys" had a better draw with the weather then there is no way in hell he'd have won!

That's got to be one of the worst major championship endings ever.
How boring was that!?
I've celebrated more taking a fiver off my mate.
I'm gutted I took time off work and lost a couple of hours O/T to watch it.
I too predict a lifetime of obscurity for this guy. Whatever his name is. (I've genuinely forgotten it already.)

You've summed up my feelings there too fella!

Total anti-climax of an entire tournament and will surely be forgotten by this time next year and consigned to history as THE worst US Open ever.....except by Glovers family anyway

I hadnt even realised it had finished. One of lads in work has him in a sweep at his club, he will be quids in!

Agreed.
A boring Open which in my opinion has been marred by the mindless continual hollering by the gallery. Watched some last night and am convinced that many of the gallery were off their heads with what Mr Harmon referred to as liquid refreshment.

Behaviour such as that would have been widely reported as lager loutish had it happened on these shores.

Shame Fisher couldn't keep it going and make a real charge. It was a real let down. Glover will enjoy his moment in the sun and then it'll be back to a life of midfield finishes and missed cuts but I guess he'll not really care anymore after today.

It was picking up nicely until the last 3 holes and then just dies, real anti climax, thought lefty was going to do it, or even Duval which would have been some story

I think you're all being a bit harsh....Glover had the best score over the 72 holes so he deserves the win. Just because none of the big boys won it doesn't degrade it in any way.
A major is still a major whoever wins it !!!

Plus Ross Fisher is becoming one of my favourite players :)

Sorry Paul I just cannot agree with you.

Glover didnt have to play in a fraction of the atrocious weather that Tiger, Mickleson, Furyk etc etc had to play in, and i'm 110% sure if he did he wouldn't have carded the score he did.

IMHO the entire tournament should have been scrapped as a washout on Friday and re-arranged! I know it would never happen but thats what should have happened.

I couldnt be more pleased that someone new won it - whats the problem ? :D

Mickelson faltered, as did Fisher & Duval, and Barnes was very off colour today.

Personally, I get sick of seeing all the 'Big Names', and as usual, TW was as sullen and 'how unlucky am I' as usual, and Im glad he didnt feature in the end.

Well done to Lucas Glover, and I hope it gives him the belief and confidence to go on and win lots more. :D

Bit surprised at the negative comments. I thought the last 2 hours was good stuff. Up until Duval bogeyed 17 there were 5 players within 2 shots, some great shots too and a lot of tension.

Ok no-one wanted Glover to win but he held his nerve better than the rest and deserved his win. He has won on tour before so isn't a total nobody.

I liked Glovers Pac-man comment when he hit it in the rough and the spotter started that odd gesturing.

So some players got unlucky with weather but that's what happens in golf, you just have to get on with it.

Really enjoyed seeing Duval play again - a special talent and hopefully on the way back - look out for him at Turnberry, worth a punt possibly.

Overall a decent showing by the Brits too.

Amazing comments really imo.

The Open Championship is decided for many players EVERY year by having a bad draw, for the American majors it's a rarity, so why so harsh when it does happen over there?

And as for GLover winning, yes I must admit to hating when a 'no-name' wins a major, but you all sound a bit like Peter Alliss when Paul Lawrie won, and I don't recall anyone agreeing with him back then.

Fair play to him - he won fair and square. And having the best of the weather is the luck of the draw. But I'll lay a few quid that we don't hear much more about him.

Having said that does this win put him in a good position for RC qualification? Or has qualification not begun yet?

Fair play to the guy he posted his score and won isn't that golf is all about not his fault he never played in the worst of the weather thats what a draw is for or does Tiger want to pick and chose his times now ,fed up to the back teeth of hearing about how unlucky he was blah blah blah , the guy who shot the best score won simple.

I would have prefered Ricky Barnes to win, if it had to be a nobody.

Didn't necessarily want one of the big guns to win, but if say, Ross Fisher had won, it would have confirmed his rise up the rankings, and set him off on a good run at majors. It might have been the spur he needed to really crack into the top ten.

For Glover, it is his moment in the sun, that is all.

For me, it became a dull tournament the moment it started raining, at the beginning of June. It turned it into target golf, and that, to me, is inherrantly boring to watch(although still impressive, as I can't do it).

Imurg the guy has just won one of the two biggest titles in world golf. I doubt the RC has even entered his head. Whether or not he makes it into an 'exhibition match' as young Rory rightly called it, some 15 or so months away, is irrelevant isn't it?

Just to play 'devil's avocado' for a minute, and put it in context, this 'nobody' did have a fairly poor 08 and banked 'only' a million dollars, but in the three preceding years he finished 30th, 21st and 53rd on the Money list with $2 million, $2.6 million and $1.6 million in winnings.

He also came within a hair's breadth of making the 2006 Ryder Cup team. So surely we need to give him a little bit of credit? And I'm sure Tiger and co. have struck lucky with the draw in their time too.

Personally though, would have loved to see Double D do it...

well id never heard of him before, but like a lot of other people have said he ended up with the best score, so he did something right
