Just got home from the mini meet, won't go into who won etc, smiffy has the results. My fourball split into pairs matchplay with therod and myself representing team blob as we became known versus murph and fish. The lead never went to more than 2, think it was all square after 9. I just have to go into how it ended as murph will be on moaning later....

Team fish and murph were 1 up standing on the 18th tee.... Decent enough shots from all off the tee, except me, I top my drive.. For some reason measured it on GPS and it was 205yards! Lol. 135 uphill left, stiff a 9 iron to within 2 feet. Drop the putt for birdie and leave the match all square. My team really did not deserve that, and I felt for therod for having to carry me for about 14 holes... But I had to get in before murph did! Lets just say I had a poor round, so the birdie was very much out of context for my 18!

Thanks o smiffy for sorting, the course was great, lovely setting!

no doubt Fish will be on here later congratulating you on the half.......

I found the thread about the game about 2 hours to late - classic case of 'that's Wed the 10th' which I couldn't make, and then it was today, when I was sitting at home and messing around in the garden, while you were playing half an hour down the road!!!

It is a nice little course, never really gets the credit it deserves IMO.

The one bit I don't understand is that at 340, I would have thought Murp would be driving it and Fish would be through the back with his strong 3 wood..........

I had a great day. What golf is all about. Played like a tramp, but then who doesn't. Lovely weather, good company, a close match, and mugged at the end. What's not to like?

Topped driver, ??? Iron (you never know what it is with TM) to two foot. My 4w followed by a peach of a 9i straight through the green, wasted.

Enjoyed it.

Well done smiffy for organising, and nick, robin, and Scott for a great game.

haha! murph was just laying up so he could murder is 9 iron 150+ to the back fringe!

It really is a great track, and for £30 a head good value too. some amazing houses on the drive in, gives is a wentworth feel! i bet you dont get much change from a few mil£ on that road!

We have a reciprocal with Tyrells Wood. What was it like. Had the greens improved as they were a bit woolly earlier in the year

greens were ok, very hard to read the speed in all honesty, but they played true. fairways were obviously rock hard. a few holes with the hills were a nightmare! on one, i hit the left FW right by the first cut, and ended up in the right rough! you really need to play there a few times to get the "knowledge" if you have a reciprocal, deffo use it, i would definitely play there again.

A quirky course that rewards caution and position off the tee. Experience helps a lot.

The greens were true enough, but a tad slow. The fairways were rock hard. As was the 18th green!

Do they still have that hole midway through the front nine where they have to cut the fairway to different heights in strips to stop every ball running down below the trees on the right?

No! They need to though! We all struggled with slopey fairways! We saw nigh on 50 yard roll across fairways, was a bit crazy!

Can't remember the hole number where they used to do it, but it was the one before the par-5 that runs along the road to a narrow two-tier green. I think they partly did it because the better players were deliberately hitting over the trees up the other fairway to the left to avoid running down towards that par 5 off decent drives and being blocked out, thus causing a few danger issues...

Did anyone drive either the first or tenth? Would have thought you could reach with a good drive in this weather.

I drove the 1st :whoo: I was just to the right hand side of the green but past the pin with my 3w ;)

Excellent day but thoroughly mugged  Scott saved his one glory moment to the 18th, I was happy with my 6th par of the round on the 18th but it ended all square in our match, I don't think team blob had the honour on the front 9

Great company, good to put more names to faces, very tidy track with some stunning views at the high points of the course. Like all courses played for the first time, some holes would now be played very differently next time.

Jez, I know the hole you mean, its a left hand dogleg with the road to the left but the fairway has a huge fall right to left, if you don't get the length, it rolls to the bottom and your blocked out by the tree's on the bend which I just brushed with my 4 iron on my 3rd shot due to chipping out from the tree's on the right.

You really do need to know before hand which way the ball runs & bounces as Murph and myself were punished at times which gave team blob the knowledge not having the honour to not go for some fairways as our balls ran off!

Pictures to follow.

Thanks Smiffy ;)
