How irritating is it when you go to the range one night and you hit every shot right out of the sweet spot, booming your drives over 250 yards right down the middle. Nothing can go wrong. I even considered turning pro lol!!
so tonight comes and I think I will pop down to the range again just to work on my perfect swing, finally found that magic swing, or so I thought. Dont think I hit one ball down the middle tonight, totally froze. Back to planet earth again, happy days.
So whilst pondering my situation on the way home I suddenly realized exactly what I was doing wrong. I will not bore you with the details but it was very simple to fix. Problem being that this happens to me all the time. I get it right and then the next time im out I freeze.
I think if I could be consistent I could drop at least 4 - 5 shots of my handicap.

I had the same thing a few weeks ago mate. It's very frustrating but if golf was easy, we wouldn't love it half as much!

hoping to go to the range tomorrow, havent hit a ball since early november, bet ill cursing when i get home thinking i should have done this and that,

I will be expecting a post on here tomorrow night from you having a rant no doubt. But you never know, usually after not playing for a while you loosen up and tend not to overthink things which leads to a good night at the range

My usual trick is to get a bucket of 70, hit 65 shockers, work out whats going wrong, fix it leaving me with just 3 or four balls which I actually hit well... :(

Whenever things start to wrong for me my whole body just freezes and you would think I was a first timer. I feel sorry for people who have to watch my balls spread all over the place. Im very impatient so havnt the patience to stand back and take a breather and slow away down.

I do have one tip for you, if you know the staff at your range well then they are not averse to taking a quick peek at your swing and offering one or two quick suggestions.

I have done this before, the guy said "your standing a little closed", instantly my shots improved just by having another pair of eyes.

Dont be afraid to ask for a quick tip from your pro outside of lessons, I spent ages cultivating a good working releationship with my old clubs staffand it paid off as my lessons were more productive and my pro was happy to help with a quick check when I had a slight slicing issue.

In return just be a good customer and be loyal... its well worth the effort and any additional cost (if there is any) in the long run!

I've been working with one swing thought all week and on Tuesday it was working like a dream. Stood there tonight, same thought and a real curates egg. Still a lot to be pleased about but a quicker tempo and not as good in general. Might be too much practice and so perhaps I just need to take this weeks work to the course in the roll up, see how I get on and reassess how well it is or isn't going

I really need to get myself a lesson booked. Never had one in my life but always mean to go for it as I think that pro knowledge would bring me on leaps and bounds.

too much practice is never a good thing either. I was doing that positive swing thought aswell after I read it in a book and it really does work and also having a saying like a long number you say to yourself during the swing and it really helps with the tempo

Know how you feel. But don't think you can ever have to much practise. As long as its the right practise. I would practise and play every day if I had the chance.
