Today is the day this young pup turned 40 which in my eyes is no longer old ;)

I have some nice golf organised this year already wth Hoylake, Muirfield and Sawgrass topping the bill but don't worry craw the Dunes tucks in just behind.

For those young enough, what's your plans for turning 40 and for those over what sort of "special" thing did you do/get for yours?

Congrats, I had mine 13 months back, wasn't into golf then. My main pressie was a driving experience, got to thrash a Gallardo around Elvington airfield, awesome :whoo:

I hit the big 40 a month ago. My wife bought me my mancave for my present (or at least converted a spare room). Had it decorated how i wanted put in a big TV and a big leather sofa, coffee machine, beer fridge etc and I love having my own space so a great present. I did not do much in the way of celebrating, had a big family meal out, night out with my mates and a round of golf with my old and my new playing partners but that suited me. Not one for big parties, only person who does not enjoy a party is the person throwing it.

Turned 40 June 2006. By the end of the month I was in hospital having been an hour or so away from croaking so it wasn't great. Signified a huge turning point in my life, my health and my relationship with Mrs H so there was a silver lining to a rather dark time

Last year for me. Booked a villa for a fortnight on the algarve and played gramacho, Pinta and alto golf. Brilliant holiday!

Congrats hope you had a good one and enjoy your golfing treats.

Had mine a couple of years ago just after the little lad was born so was a subdued celebration just spending time with him and HID, golf was a bit hit and miss but I did get a new R11 and fairway to match, replacing my illegal r580 (oops it wasn't a non conforming version but too late now I've got new shineys!)

All the best fella. Doesn't change much TBH.

Although I now drink Mild, have realised that there is a world of difference between tan and beige slacks, the waist of my trousers is now just under my nipples and I like to get in at night and get "settled".Mmm rich tea biscuits.....

Christ, I'm older than my years, I've been doing that for yonks.

Whoops, I was joking. Well partially true. I drink bitter, and I haven't worn my kecks on my waist since leg warmers........ahem.

As we all know some fellas are 40 in the head when they are 22, some are never 40 despite being 50-odd. It's just a number, just feel comfortable who you are. I'm 42 now and turning 40 didn't bother me one bit.

I had a great 40th birthday party (even though didn't want one) with 90 odd people who I really wanted to be there, not just hangers on. I played Carnoustie with 4 close mates. I had a great year.

Still playing 5 a side, going the match, going on golf adventures, and if LFC get further in the UEFA cup, may get my passport out again.

Life's grand. enjoy it.

I'm taking bowls up when the 5 a side stops though.

Enjoy
