Right then.
Down the range atm I'm trying to get my long game into some kind of order.
As always I'm getting het up over my driving / tee shots.
Can I have your opinions please :
Using range balls, so I'm not adjusting for 90% balls or anything, I'm hitting my decent 5I 150 ish, and a well struck 6I is going about 140.
My hybrids are looking ok, and are landing somewhere between the 150 and the 200 markers. I won't be far off if we put them down as 160 and 170 for the 4H and 3H respectively.
Now these are the good shots - not the one in 10 mega creamed, or the thins or the fats or the slices or the other major cock ups.
If you were talking to someone who had these figures what would be your expectation for them when they hit their 4W off the deck, and their driver off the tee ?
I'm thinking that as a minimum the 4W should be landing just short of the 200 marker, say about 185-190 ish, with the driver being 20-30 yards longer. Then, when these figures translate to better balls on a real course, I'd have some kind of game to play with.
The problem is that the woods are both going about the same distance as the 3H and are all pitching somewhere in the middle between the 150 and 200 markers, say 180 max.
I'm trying to swing the same with the bigger clubs, but that longer shaft is doing my head in ( as the actress said to the bishop
)
Any thoughts / tips / comments on how I should be hitting it over the fence / similar experiences and how you got over it.
