Does the final score after a round of 18 really show the true reflection of how we play??

Today I went round in 109 which isn't my best score and I'm sure it's a mile off what most people on here would be happy with. But in all honesty I probably played one of the best rounds I've ever played today. I drove on to nearly every fairway today and my iron play, which is usually my worse part of my game was really good and each shot filled me more and more with confidence. What really let me down today was my short game around the green and my putting. I could have been putting for 3 birdies today if I hadn't messed my pitching up but golf is a game of hindsight.

Despite going round in109 and only getting 21 points I'm still pretty happy with my game today and came off the 18th happier than I have been when I've had better scores.

I shot 92 and literally threw 11 shots away. Three 3 putts, two 4 putts an O.B and a mix up with my range finder that led to an over hit and a lost ball. I was generally playing well enough for a low 80s but the putts just wasnt going in, so all in all I feel the same as you. Feeling good about my game but fuming over my mistakes.

You can play well and not score just as you can hit it like a tart and still post a reasonable number...

Or... you can hit it like a tart and not score!
Like I did today! Like I've been doing for the past two years!:confused:

Your score doesn't always tell the whole story as Imurg says play poor and scramble a score or hit the ball like a dream and not be able to buy a par all part of the game.

The score doesn't always tell the whole story. Nobbled it around the front 9 and was out in 17. Granted I chopped the back nine. I've been saying for weeks on here it felt close but the scores weren't reflecting this. Sometimes you cna hit it well and not score and sometimes not hit it great and come back with a great score. Stupid game

The final score at the end of 18 holes is a true reflection of the number of times you hit the ball (plus any penalties). Nothing more, nothing less. Every single golfer at some stage has got away with one, and equally we've all had rounds where we haven't got what we deserved.

The game is designed to keep you humble.

Aslong as your happy with your round/score then thats all that matters !

I think a lot of players base there round on how well there drives and full shots fly, then racking up a few bad chips and putts is usually forgoten causing confusion as to why there score isn't reflecting the way they believe they have played.
