I know we have done this to death, but watched it this morning and it looked like the same old faces again, with the exception of the 2 handicapper that almost won.

The short game wizard turned up on it as well.


What gets me is the same guys seem to always get there or there about consistently year after year. if i was this consistent i rec I could get my handicap way lower, yet these always stay the same.

People's handicaps rarely change that much though do they over a year unless they are improving significantly

Yes, i watched that last night. Of the four players who made the playoff, i was really routing for that "Abbs" guy. Think William Hunt did not like the fact he was a 'newbie 'Trilbyturdian' and that one of his 'leg-ends' would not take the prize. Even funnier was watching Couzins getting advice from 'short game wizard' Mom Toldhoon'!! lad with breaks all mapped out, what hand cranker he looked!!

If handicaps are fair and accurate you would never see the same faces cropping up as winners. The winner of any handicap competition should be as random as rolling a dice.

I'm sure that the Irish one in the final 4 was off a 2 handicap one of the previous years and now seems to be off 6, that's a hell of a jump. I agree that a lot of the players seem to be people I'd leave the pub to avoid, but if you've got the time, money & inclination to spend days playing the course and mapping every inch of it, good luck to you.

I went from 2 to 5 in a year. But boy did it take some awful golf to do it. My handicap graph for the year looked like the take off path out of Heathrow.

£300 to play Marriot courses - you get a poor standard bag , forced to wear poor standard clothing - if you don't you don't get on telly - that includes when it's pouring with rain and you put waterproof on

You have to be on the tee 30 mins before or you are DQ just to make the place look busy

It's full of the type of golfers we all don't like - the ones manufacturing their HC to keep them competitive - that's valid for all the other am comps that are non Q - even though some comps have banned certain people - those people don't respect the game of golf

And it all massages egos of organisers and the regular attendees - especially one guy sat above everyone

It does nothing for the image of golf

The concept and idea is very good - shame it's turned out the way it has

Make every event a qualifier - simple

Took the words right out of my mouth some of the guys on there if they were made of chocolate would eat themselves, watched the start when he was dressed as whatever going thru the bushes ,what and absolute sasij . £300 for last seasons gear to play Dalmahoy up here in Scotland which is a total goat track since they lengthened it for no reason. Its only about one guy on there and massage his ego

In the early days it was a wonderful concept and the gear was good . It became a monster quickly as its popularity grew and is now a parody of what it was. A farce that the same people always qualify and overpriced and rubbish

Agree on the qualifier but the guy who won it is off 4 so he must be playing qualifiers all the time.

Doesn't mean anything Glyn, he can play as many as he wants but if he is protecting his handicap then he just chucks in a few bad holes to make sure he doesn't get cut....or makes sure he goes up!!

Hi I was the caddie for that 'Abbs' guy. I'll let him know he had some support on the forum. To be fair it seemed like most of the crowd also wanted him to win. Darren is a really nice lad who has as legitimate handicap as you could wish to have. I've never known anyone to play in as many qualifiers as he does. His progress the last couple of years has been awesome. I genuinely thought he had it in the bag after the tee shots on the sudden death play off hole.
