Dates and venues are (supposedly) being released this Wednesday, anyone else registered again for this year's gig??

Hopefully this will avoid the fiasco they had last year by not releasing the dates until around end of March. Says they are publishing venues in two phases, not sure I'm keen on that. Would be a real blow if you jump on the first set of venues to find out that Wentworth (or similar) comes out in the second pot!! :(

I managed to get my depsoit refunded last year becasue of the delay in releasing the dates despite it saying non refundable.

Was a real disappointment at the time so am looking forward to this year.

Wouldn't dream of unleashing my game on such a decent field although the lure of a William Hunt makeover is tempting. Sadly cash will prevent it being anything other than a pipe dream irrespective of form. I know there seemed to be some issues with venues and dates last year and hopefully they'll be ironed out this time around

I wouldn't worry about it Homer.
Some Geezer at Bearwood came in with 7 points last year!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Front or back 9? :o

There was some right low scoring. Plenty didn't make 20 points. I had 26 playing off 9, and from the very back pegs so I don't think I did too badly although I couldn't buy a putt all day and wasn't driving as well as I knew I could.
Thing was, I paid my deposit way back in 2009 before I did my arm in at Hankley Common and was nutting it off the tee. I didn't want to lose my £50.00 so carried on with the booking. I knew I wasn't going to play as well as I had done in the past around there.

Where do I find info on this and is it open to all Hcaps

I think you'll find that the maximum handicap is 18. You can play in it if you are higher than that but will only be allowed to play off 18. And from there it's 3/4's handicap. So you'd be off 14.
So if you are a 24 handcapper, you'll be losing 10 shots.
You'd need to be some sort of HTL, sorry, Bandit to want to enter under those conditions
;)

I played in it at Bearwood Lakes last year. Not entered it this time round, but I'd love to do it again, maybe next year.

Last year I had 30pts playing off 8 with 7 x 3 putts! I thought I had more time than I actually did and only had 5 minutes on the practice green before I heard my name called out

I'd fancy my chances with another years putting practice :)

Played Murrayshall, greens were in superb condition when I played, decent track in my opinion, not a great track but I enjoyed it.

Yeah, playing it for the first time this year. In fact the missus is paying for my entry fee for Valentines day!!!

Watched it last year, and played in the am-am the day before at our place, and just thought everything was so well organised, and getting all the rig out is a nice touch.

Already had the heads up that the North / Yorkshire is at KP Club (which works well for me ;-) ) on the 2nd June...

Wanted to enter this year as I had a great day at the London club last year but money is a bit tight. Thinking of entering again next year, I've been told that the Buckinghamshire has pulled out of hosting this year, not sure how true it is though.

I'm in. Paid my deposit for this year on the same day i played at Murrayshall last year as i didn't wait to miss out.

It was a fantastic day, great experience. From the nerves ALL WEEK leading up to it, to pegging it up on the first with the starter announcing your name and the Sky cameras and papps recording the moment for posterity/evidence to the laugh on the way round (my bro caddied for me and lets just say he won't be asked back! Example, i casually threw my ball at him to clean while eyeing up my putt on the third, however, he didn't see it and it hit him on the chest...cue my bro to launch it like a baseball pitcher back to me hitting me in the crotch! Glad the cameras didn't pick that up...)

On the face of it, it is an expensive round of golf, however, it is more of an experience. Highly recommendable!

Here are the venues from the Phase 1 release:

Ireland – Slieve Russell: July 14

England
– Donnington Grove: 12 May 2011
– Old Thorns: 18 May 2011
– Trevose: 24 May 2011
– KP Club: 2 June 2011
- Rockliffe Hall: 30 June 2011
– Goodwood: 21 July 2011
– The Oxfordshire: 29 July 2011
– Marriott Sprowston Manor: 4 August 2011

The Oxfordshire is closest for me out of these, but don't know whether to enter now or see what courses are going to be released in Phase 2.

Problem is they don't say when phase 2 will be released an they don't say which courses they will be. Not sure why it has to be so secretive. Makes it hard when you are trying to plan holidays etc.

Any preferences from these from those who have entered this year?
