Actually not quite right. Two scores of -4 or better trigger an ESR, regardless of the number of intervening qualifiers. It's just that if there have been a large number of intervening qualifiers (typically but not necessarily 10), the ESR cut will be 0. I know this because it's happened to me.A score of -4 against CSS starts the process. If a similar score is achieved within 10 subsequent qualifiers, the process is then carried out and is based on the average score below CSS and the number of intervening qualifiers played.

The silly thing IMO is that the second good score does indeed result in an ESR - of nothing. Which means that the player can then go out the next day, score -4 or better, and all that does is start the process again, waiting for another good score.Oops| I stand corrected. I was still thinking of an actual recent case where the average score was -4 to-6 with 10 or more intervening QRs, resulting in no ESR. Better average score than -6 would have resulted in ESR.
