Tony Scott admitted as much in the Director's cut. He used baby oil to an extreme extent getting them ready for it. Rick Rossovich who played Slider said he has spent years fighting off potential male admirers because of it.

Recently went to see the Le Mans film... And, being a tad old school was a bit concerned the CGI might be the spoiling factor... Totally wrong... If the story is strong enough the CGI won't be an issue...

And yes, looking forward to Top Gun 2...
