I'm a huge Bond fan, have been since I can remember.....I remember coming home from school one day (was about 6) and all I wanted to do was sit down all afternoon and watch Moonraker as my Dad had kindly video taped (remember them?) for me.

Anyway, a few weeks back Sky Movies had a Bond weekend and showed every single Bond film back to back....I set the box to record every one of them and have decided to watch them in chronological order (as some of you may have seen who follow me on Twitter). Just watched the 4th film last night "Thunderball" and will no doubt watch a few more this weekend.

So, what's your top 5 Bond Films??

Mine:
1: Casino Royal
2: Dr No
3: Skyfall
4: Goldeneye
5: Live and Let Die (Controversial, I know, but reminds me of my childhood)

That's one thing I haven't done yet, read any of the books. I keep threatening to do it but can never find the time.

They're brilliant, easy reading, but dated.
I actually prefer them to the films - I think 'cause they are more realistic, with fewer daft, gimmicky stunts/gadgets

I think the new ones with Faceache Craig are absolutely rubbish. Angst ridden and devoid of humour.

Much prefer the misogynist Bonds with a few gadgets, a few quips, some nice bikinis and a battle scene at the end. So my top 5 would be: You Only Live Twice, Goldfinger, Dr No, Thunderball and From Russia With Love. The latter starring the most beautiful Bond girl ever in Daniela Bianchi.

I agree re: Skyfall, one of the most overhyped movies I've ever seen (up there with the Shawshank Redemption), but I thought Casino Royale was excellent.

Also, FRWL was close to my top 5 list

No way, Domino from Thunderball wins best Bond Girl award for me.....I'd never get bored of her.

Not in any particular order:

OHMSS
Goldfinger
You Only Live Twice
Diamonds Are Forever
Casino Royale

Connery fan, obviously. The later Moore films were an embarrassment, Dalton was OK but too intense and the franchise was getting really tired by the time Brosnan came along, although I like him as Bond. If OHMSS had Connery, it might be the best of them all.

Casino Royale was nearer to a 'proper' Bond that Fleming envisaged.

Goldfinger had lots of menace and extravagance so is right up there....

Bond with weak 'Bonds' and flippant humour is on a par with Sylvester McCoy playing Dr Who...embarrassing:eek:

someone mentioned Daniela Bianchi, looked like Joan Sims from a carry on movie but whatever floats yer boat:rolleyes:

Tiresome.

That was me. You could have seen that by glancing up to post 6. Never mind, far better to be dismissively flippant eh? Or are you partially sighted? I suspect so after your comments about the delightful Miss Bianchi.

In both cases, the books are good as well and both films are a fair approximation of the written plot.

If Connery was in instead of the Aussie I don't think anyone would question its excellence.

Has the very best score as well :

As an homage, I am off to Murren in Feb. Not sure I'll be able to afford to eat in the Schilthorn tho.

On complete tangent, love the old boots and bindings he clips into at the start of the clip. Thankfully, not too many skiers consider themselves good enough to ski these blade equivalent nowadays. I'm sure a few of the forumers here would insist that they can work their carves better with them compared to the newer 'game improvement' fat skis and plastic boots available now.....

As an aside, I used to be a member of Gerrards Cross Golf Club. One day I walked into the pro shop to find the pro finishing up a conversation with a member. The member was telling him the order of some of the Moore Bonds. The member walked out and I said to the pro 'That bloke knows his Bond movies' to which the pro said 'He should, he directed 3 or 4 of them'. It was John Glen, who actually directed 5, all the 80s films, and was second unit on a few before that. Gerrards Cross is only a couple of miles from Pinewood Studios.

I can see where you're coming from re the Joan Simms, Daniela Bianchi comparrison, there is a slight resemblence, though to say they look alike, you'd have to have Joan Simms about 500yds away from yourself and looking through a telescope with vaseline smeared over the end.:smirk:

fwiw, he (Glen) directed/edited the ski chase scene which I linked to earlier. A real master of the art.
