So I had my first lesson at my new club. The pro setup his camera and explained what we planned to do - mainly have a look at my swing and make sure things are as they should be.

I hit one shot which was filmed from the side and one from the back, both perfect strikes. We had a look through the videos and he told me I had a brilliant swing, posture, tempo, impact position and follow through, the only thing we could see that was in need of TLC was my grip.

My grip has always been a issue and my previous pro changed from my interlock to the baseball. We matched up my video with Luke Donalds on the GASP software and both swings looked in sync.

We then matched the grips, we discussed it and my pro said that its not a major issue at the moment, but if i want to get to the low numbers we would need to change it - he said we could probably have it fixed within 6 lessons but recommended doing it in the winter off season.

We had a quick play around with the grip and strengthened up my left hand, making sure my logo on the velcro fastener was showing, allowing me to release my hands and have the right club face position on impact, it seems to be a little bit open as i hit. It seemed to make a difference, just needed to adjust my swing a little bit to not compensate for an open club face.

I've booked a 3 hole on course video lesson for 2 weeks to have a look at my course management which he thinks will also be worth it.

It brought a smile to my face when he said how good my swing and contact was, he said I could easily get to single figures with the grip change if i keep everything else as is and that he can mould me easily into the low numbers!
