Today's the Day

Sounds like you had the misfortune of meeting someone who had 'one of those days', especially frustrating as it seemed you both played well enough to win.

Homer, you do have a good eye for finding a strong partner :D

Sounds like a tight game, with a lot of good golf played. Hope you both enjoyed the match, as I am sure that is why GM organised the event.

GM never organised the day it was the volvo matchplay.

OK, I've recovered from the disappointment, but still can't quite believe we blew it. Keith(7) & John (23) were good company but John didn't really contribute much to proceedings and never really looked like doing so. Keith on the other played pretty well as Homer suggested and since he was on his own he needed to.

I probably hit the ball better than I have all year and I've hit it pretty well this year. Homer had his moments as well and we made a pretty good team.

At the end of the day it came down to a few putts, Homer's birdie putt on 15 somehow stayed up, Keith's par putt on 17 dropped. The other way round it was game over. My putt on 18 never looked like missing and if I hit it another 100 times it would drop, but this one didn't. And then the final nail in the coffin was Keith's birdie from miles away on the 19th. All in all it could easily have been different and I don't think we could have done anymore.

Roll on next year.
