Please don’t ask to see my tatts 👍
Played today and there was five of us turned up. Looked like being a three an two ball.
guy in club shop said play as a five ball coz you the fifth set of players to go out today. It was 10.30.
it was raining with the BBC SAYING ITS GONNA BE CLEAR BY 12.00. Soddin capitals.
Anyway we tees off in the rain. Today was all about my new drive, I had mentioned it to my four playing partners and boom straight down the middle. It just flew.
by the third hole it was proper bladdering it down. But I was happy as Larry coz my drives in atrocious weather were flying.
By the forth the wind had picked up and umbrellas were inside out. Me I was buzzing as I had just drove a screamer. Best player playing off 12 who had scored 39'points in the last two 18 hole StableFord was struggling big style.
on the par three 5th I Was the only one to hit the green. The wind and rain was biblical, but me and Melly said sod it were doin 18. On the next par 5 zig zag hole I hit my best ever drive on that hole. Four shots later I was the only one who had hit the fairway. At that point for the first time ever I realised wind and rain = cold. Our best player said sod it after the fifth and walked in. We carried on. Next hole I was the only one to hit the par three green.
on the eighth. My drive was mental. Then it went a bit tits up.
Melly, one of the lads who's heads went a bit after the pit shut slipped over on his butt. He promptly said stuff it and walked off. When I got 23k for the two captains charity's last year they gave me ten free tickets to take pals on freebies, his was the first and he lasted 7 1/2 holes then walked off without shaking the other two guys hands. Miserable sod 😁.
it was at that point I looked up to the other two lads and some freezing rain went in my right tab hole. i got a brain freeze like when you are a kid and eat an ice lolly too quick. I thought this is crap. I had a par putt from 3 ft and it stopped two foot short because of the wet green.
walking up the ninth we all said stuff it and were laughing like something out of one flew over the cuckoos nest.
It was a memorable round mostly for all the wrong reasons but it was a right laugh when playing/ driving well.
but God it was flippin brutal. When we got in the clubhouse they said we were the only people on the course. An hour later I was sat in the steaming hot bath and the flippin sun was blazing away and there was not a breath of wind.
I have never ever ever seen the course that wet.
